Description:

SLÁN is a national survey of the lifestyle, attitudes and nutrition of people living in Ireland. To date surveys have been carried out in 1998, 2002 and 2007. SLÁN 2007 is the largest survey to date. A scientifically representative random sample of over 10,000 people aged 18 years and over were interviewed in their own homes, by experienced researchers from the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI). The survey covers general health, behaviours relating to health (eg exercise, nutrition) and the use of certain health services. In addition, over 1,200 people who participated in the survey also participated in a detailed medical examination.
