Unit Of Observation Household; individual member of household
Start Date Began in September 1997, replacing the annual April Labour Force Survey (LFS)
End Date Continuously in the field
Target Population Frequency of data collection: Quarterly every year. Information is collected continuously throughout the year, with a design of 3,000 households surveyed each week to give a total design sample of 39,000 households in each quarter. The achieved sample will vary from this design over time. Target population: All private households in the State. Sample size: Under the designed sample, 152 CSO field interviewers would interview 39,000 households each quarter from a collection of listed dwelling units maintained by interviewers. This represents the design sample, but the achieved sample will vary over time. Response rate: 9,000 (3,000 interviewed every week within each 13-week quarter). This represents the design response rate, but the achieved response rate will vary over time.
Method CSO field staff interview household member using a QNHS electronic questionnaire on a laptop computer with CAPI software, which allows questions to be selectively asked to fit the profile of the respondent.
