The Play & Leisure Partnerships are made up of partners from the statutory, voluntary, and private sector. The aims of the partnerships is to support the delivery of improved play and leisure opportunities within Carrickfergus Borough for children and young people of all abilities through the coordination of partner activities aimed at meeting locally identified need and the objectives of the play and leisure strategy.

Objectives of the Partnerships

  1. To raise awareness of play and leisure for children and young people within their partner organisations and the wider community.
  2. To ensure that service planners and providers make strategic and operational decisions with reference to potential impact on play and leisure.
  3. To publicise, promote and disseminate the play and leisure strategy and implementation plan across relevant bodies in Carrickfergus Borough.
  4. To support and influence decision making on service delivery and resource allocation by appropriate commissioning bodies, with a view to progressing local strategic area planning.
  5. To achieve synergy between partnership member groups to maximise available resources (both financial and otherwise);
  6. To review and develop Play Partnership membership on an ongoing basis, developing new connections and appropriate partnerships over time.
  7. To monitor progress towards meeting the objectives contained within the partnership local area action plan.
  8. To liaise with the local community about the progression of the play and leisure strategy.
