Creator:

Information Unit, Department of Health and Children

Subject Keywords: Admissions to in-patient services
Topic: Mental Health
Catalogue: Data
Secondary Data Sources - Indicator Sets
Type: Table
Region: Republic of Ireland
Description:

Data presented include all admissions and first admissions (by gender) to the in-patient services for the year 2007-2011 inclusive. Admission rates per 100,000 population are also provided for these variables. Data on total admissions reflect ongoing activities in the in-patient psychiatric services and it is important to note that events rather than persons are recorded, with the result that one person may be admitted several times during the course of the calendar year, in which case each admission is recorded separately. The diagnostic groups are based on the tenth revision of the WHO International Classification of Diseases categories (ICD-10).
