Topic: Mental Health
Chronic Conditions
Catalogue: Data
Secondary Data Sources - Indicator Sets
Type: Table
Region: Republic of Ireland
Description:

Data presented in Table P1 include all admissions and first admissions (by gender) to the in-patient services by county of residence for the years: 1960, and 1965 to 2011. Admission rates per 100,000 population are also provided for these variables. Data on total admissions reflect ongoing activities in the in-patient psychiatric services and it is important to note that events rather than persons are recorded, with the result that one person may be admitted several times during the course of the calendar year, in which case each admission is recorded separately. Rates prior to 1997 are based on total population while rates after 1996 refer to population aged 16 and over. Patient admissions under 16 years of age are not included in the statistics after 1966.
