Description:

Pulmonary arterial hypertension includes a group of diseases incorporating Idiopathic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (IPAH) and PAH related to various underlying medical conditions. 

With the support of the Mater Misericordiae Hospital and the former ERHA, a specialised centre for pulmonary hypertension was established at the Mater Hospital in 2003. The PAH unit is the national referral and treatment centre for those diagnosed with PAH in Ireland.

Patient data collected includes clinical history, results of any completed investigations which may include (Chest radiography, CT or thorax, ECG, blood testing, walk or shuttle test, pulmonary fiunciton testing, Echocardiogram, Ventilation - Perfusion lung Scan, angiogram, right heart catherisation, Acute vasoreactivity study.
