This Strategy sets out the actions proposed by the Northern Ireland Executive to address the issue of Child Poverty. It is laid before the Assembly in fulfilment of their obligations under the Child Poverty Act 2010. The Act provides a statutory basis for joined up action across the United Kingdom to reduce poverty amongst children and, by 2020, to eradicate it. The Act places a duty on the UK government to develop a strategy to eradicate child poverty and on the devolved administrations to develop strategies which contribute towards that goal.
