Hitting the Right Targets: Pre-Budget Submission 2008

Creator:

Society of St. Vincent De Paul

Subject Keywords: Pre-budget submission on inequalities
Topic: Fuel Poverty
Type: Report
Region: Republic of Ireland
Description:

This pre-budget submission represents the Society of St. Vincent de Paul's views as to how a more socially just Ireland can be developed at a time when there are gaping inequalities that require urgent redress. It is the Society's belief that, even in the context of decelerating economic growth, it is possible for government to make a significant impression on reducing levels of consistent poverty. The title of this year's submission 'Hitting the Right Targets' encapsulates the Society's belief that resources need to be directed more effectively in order to address the issues identified here. Their concerns are many, and extend to dealing with fuel and utility bills, meeting the costs of raising children, working with migrants, and assisting people in accessing public services.
