Description:

The Happy Heart at Work programme was established in 1992 against a background of increased interest in Ireland of both settings-based health promotion programmes and health and safety at work. The programmes, devised with supportive materials, relate to topic specific lifestyle risk factors: healthy eating and physical activity in the workplace. Employers receive a Co-ordinatorメs guide related to area of interest and a wide range of information leaflets and posters are available for employees. Services provided and in support of Happy Heart at Work include a catering audit of the staff restaurant and a physical activity module (active@work). Other services provided to companies include nurse-led health assessments and health awareness days.Happy Heart at Work was developed over a two-year period from 1990-1992 and has been independently evaluated by the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG, 2001).
