The Government agreed in 2006 to the creation of a single national tertiary paediatric hospital, into which the services of the three existing children's hospitals would come together. Paediatric acute services are currently provided by three hospitals in Dublin â?" Our Ladyâ?Ts Childrenâ?Ts Hospital Crumlin, Temple Street Childrenâ?Ts University Hospital, and the National Childrenâ?Ts Hospital in Tallaght â?" currently overseen by the non-statutory Childrenâ?Ts Hospital Group Board.

The new entity will provide complex paediatric services for children from all over Ireland and secondary care services to children in the Greater Dublin area.
