Description:

Many elder male citizens in Copenhagen with a ethnic minority background do not have a tradition of exercising, and have a sparse knowledge of the consequences of a wrong diet and lack af physical activity. This target group is characterized by being physical inactive and in risks of obesity, and therefore has an increased risk of developing diabetes type 2. To prevent this target group from developing diabetes type 2 the Municipality of Copenhagen has made an exercise project that aims to motivate these men to regular exercise. The project aims at setting up physical training classes for ethnical men age 65+, and seek out the men in their local environment. The project has succeeded in engaging the target group in regular exercise.
