The Enniskillen Community Development Project was formed in 1984. Its Management Committee is cross-community and drawn from the Community, Trade Union and Business sectors. Although Enniskillen based, its services are enjoyed by people who are socially disadvantaged throughout the county. It also runs a joint project with the Transport and General Workers Union in Lisnaskea which provides Welfare Rights Advice, Computer Training, Community Meeting Rooms and Resource Centre. This project was started following several factory closures in the area. An area of high unemployment and considered one of N.Ireland's most deprived areas. The other projects run by the ECDP at the New Hope Centre are: Welfare Rights Advice Centre; CTRS-Community College; Wider Horizons Programme; The ECDP also manages the TGWU - NWI partnership providing training opportunities for TGWU members in Fermanagh, Tyrone and Armagh, along with and the Trade Unions/Cross border Learning Without Borders Project.
