The Economics of Cancer Research Group was originally set up in 2013 through funding provided by the Health Research Board (Ireland) as part of a Knowledge Exchange and Dissemination Scheme (KEDS) grant.

This Group wishes to include economic analyses in cancer research along each part of the cancer care pathway. Costs associated with cancer care, access to cancer screening and treatment, inequalities in incidence and mortality from cancer and effectiveness of programs to combat cancer all involve economics and economic research at their core. This Group, is currently and will be in the future, involved in each of these aspects of the economics of cancer care.

The members of the Groups are located at the National University of Ireland, Galway, City University London and the University of Oxford but undertake research in international settings and collaborate to colleagues from through the world.
