ERPHO has recently completed a major review of transport, access and health in the East of England. This presentation will draw on this work to outline the current policy context in the UK; to briefly discuss the potential role of the UK National Health Service (NHS) in local transport planning; describe some of the barriers to engagement of the NHS with the local transport planning process and briefly describe instances where the NHS, working in partnership with the community and local government, has improved the health of the community through improved transport and access.
