Anti-smoking campaigners (Ash, Ash Scotland, and Cancer Research UK) have successfully complained to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) about three adverts by Gallaher, part of Japan Tobacco International. The adverts stated that there was “no credible evidence” to support claims that plain packets prevent young people from starting smoking, but they have now been banned by the ASA.
