Dr John Murphy

The HSE’s national model of care for paediatrics and neonatology is due to be concluded later this year, following work under Prof Alf Nicholson, National Lead for Paediatrics, and Dr John Murphy, National Lead for Neonatology. The model will determine where services can be delivered on a national basis.

Links between the planned new children’s hospital and regional hospitals at Cork, Galway and Limerick will be established, with possible satellite services organised on a hub-and-spoke basis. The National Paediatric Hospital Development Board is in the final selection phase for the appointment of the design team. Short-listed architectural teams have been announced, and tender documents issued. The full design team is expected to be appointed in June and planning submission is expected in February, 2015.
