[Correspondence] Infective endocarditis and antibiotic prophylaxis

The UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance on antibiotic prophylaxis for infective endocarditis deviates from US and European1 guidelines, which continue to recommend antibiotics before high-risk dental procedures (eg, extractions) in high-risk patients (mostly patients with replacement heart valves or previous infective endocarditis).
