Keeping warm and safe this winter

Northern Ireland Health Minister Jim Wells has urged people to prepare to keep warm during the cold winter months.  Cold weather can lead to serious health problems, such as heart attacks and strokes, and can make chest diseases worse.  Chief Medical Officer for Northern Ireland, Dr Michael McBride commented that "Older people and those with long term illnesses are particularly vulnerable to the cold and we all need to work together to ensure that everyone is kept safe and warm in winter."  You can learn more about Fuel Poverty on the Health Well and click here to access our ‘Fuel Poverty’ theme on the Community Profiles Tool.
